Favorite Asian Recipe Sites

Once we had children, we found that we wanted to preserve a lot of the recipes that we had eaten from our culture growing up — in addition to just cooking a lot more at home and wanting to make our own favorite food memories. These are our favorite websites for various Asian recipes that we rotate for meals and tested by toddlers. What we personally do is once we tested a recipe we like, we save it analog style in a recipe notebook with our own notes, tweaks and for easy access next time.

*Note, we’re not affiliated with any of these sites.

1. The Woks of Life (Chinese)

  • This one is a given for a robust list of various Chinese food recipes and from different Chinese regions too. Our favorite is the BBQ roast pork recipe!

  • Visit

2. Just One Cookbook (Japanese)

  • If you only have one site for Japanese food, this one is it. There are many kid-friendly meals and authentic Japanese recipes to try. We’ve been making the Nabeyaki udon and teriyaki salmon from here countless times.

  • Visit

3. Made With Lau (Cantonese)

  • My heart is with Cantonese cuisine and when Made With Lau came out, all the recipes were like a walk down nostalgia. Some of the recipes were foods that my mom would make with similar techniques. The videos and recipes are easy to understand and we love listening to Mr. Lau speak Cantonese (but don’t worry, there are English subtitles and commentaries).

4. Vicky Pham (Vietnamese)

  • This is our go-to for some homestyle authentic Vietnamese food. There are a lot of traditional Vietnamese dishes, along with dessert recipes. We’re trying to go through the various wonderful noodle soups that are not always readily available at Vietnamese restaurants.

  • Visit

5. Omnivore’s Cookbook (Chinese)

  • Lots of classic Chinese food recipes made with more modern techniques. This complements with the other Chinese recipe sites listed here to get inspired for meals.

  • Visit

6. Hot Thai Kitchen (Thai)

  • If we’re feeling spicy and Thai, this is a great resource for some Thai food ideas. Crab fried rice and Tom Yum Goong anyone?

  • Visit

7. Honeysuckle (Asian)

  • Food and lifestyle blogger site with easy and tasty recipes that are often contemporary and inspired by classic Asian (and sometimes not Asian) recipes. I follow for the baking (the chocolate chip cookies and almond cookies are the best) and the fun meal ideas.

  • Visit

8. Tiffy Cooks (Taiwanese)

  • Many Taiwanese style recipes that are easy to make and follow. We really love the Taiwanese street food series with various snacks and desserts to try out!
